THE CHALLENGE
This 278-bed non-profit, faith-based hospital faced high Inpatient LOS, ED crowding and were eager to increase the acceptance of external transfers that were denied due to a lack of capacity.
THE SOLUTION
Hospital Collaborative Care – MHMDAA worked with leadership introducing a comprehensive, integrated approach to reduce inpatient LOS, including working closely with hospitalists, and specialists to create standard communication strategies between all staff, physicians and their patients.
THE RESULTS
SRMH was able to reduce IP LOS by 0.75 days, increase the number of hospitalist discharge orders by 9 AM from 11% to 54%, and increase the number of external incoming transfers by 25%.
